The purpose of this guide is to lead the reader through the maze of musical sound equipment labeled ˝high-fidelity,˝ ˝stereophonic,˝ and ˝quadraphonic˝.
It will give the hi-fi novice a broad outline of the variety, quality, and expense of basic musical sound equipment and associated music sources.
The book is designed to aid in planning the home music system arrangment and offers directions in the search for the right equipment.
It cautions against ˝impulse buying˝ that may result in inferior or overly expensive equipment. It will eliminate most of the ˝pitfalls˝ of putting together your sound system. Photographs are used throughout the book to aid the reader in understanding just what the author is trying to express.
The first chapter tells just what a music system is and chapter 2 discusses the various components of a music system.
The next three chapters discuss the factors to be considered in the listening area, the language of hi-fi and equipment selection.
Finally, antennas, system installation, adjustment, and troubleshooting plus a chapter on four-channel sound are included.
