˝One Of Us˝, released in early December 1981, was the first single from ABBA’s last album ˝The Visitors˝ (released a week earlier) and their last major hit.
The B-side was almost without exception the non-album ˝Should I Laugh Or Cry˝.
In the UK and South Africa, a spoken ˝count-in˝ intro unintentionally got included on the record.
This rarity has since been made available on CD in 2005 and 2012.
In El Salvador, ˝When All Is Said And Done˝ was used instead and in Peru, its Spanish version ˝No Hay A Quien Culpar˝.
A photo very similar to the one on the album cover was used for the single cover, in Norway and South Africa it actually was the album photo.
In the UK a different sleeve design appeared, and a picture disc was also released there.
˝One Of Us˝ wasn’t released as single in the US before 1983, when it was used to promote ˝The Singles˝ compilation.
Instead, ˝When All Is Said And Done˝ was released as the first single there.
In Brazil the single got a belated 1982 release - and came with the cover art and B-side (˝The Visitors˝) of the next single ˝Head Over Heels / The Visitors˝, which apparently wasn’t released in Brazil.
